Ministry Of Rough
After appearing on BBC 1 on the Inside Out programme, Rough was rushed into AMP Design’s laboratory to hand customise a special pair of sneakers for Ministry Of Sound. The trainers are to be used in promotional material in April.. Also check his latest news for a comprehensive update!

Note from - James Hamilton (mE) -
on page 82-83 of the April issue of Arena there is a tshirt that although I cannot take 'full credit' for (as a freelance part of the Gieves design team) was artworked by me. The pages refer to the best new tshirts for the season, and my modest unbiased opinion... it's one of the best out the 24!!

I would like to add that although there is generally some work going on in some form, not all of it is reportable. As a freelance designer/artist, certain unrelated projects go unheard by this site. The purpose though is for the promotion of us as a design collective. We are in the early planning stages of an exhibition of our very own, this will take some time as We are all very busy!
- James

We had a personal note from the Mr

Remi Morgan..
Remi and Michelle would like to let you know that Liliana Rose Morgan was born at 3.56AM on the 1st March in Kings College Hospital.
Baby and Mum are doing great and should be back home in a couple of days.

Remi

Congratulations to you guys!!

Love Actually
Richard Curtis' latest film released in mid November. It stars Hugh Grant, Liam Neason, Colin Firth, Laura Linney and Martine McCutcheon amongst others. It is one of several recent releases that Sian has made Jewellery for... more about this

1st February 2004..
Shantell Martin has just had the good news that she has been accepted to teach in Japan. After studying Japanese for a few years (where we met) to having the qualifications to teach over there, we are sure to be getting new work as she soaks up the culture. We are also putting a couple of her sketch books online to browse and buy copies of the pages soon, it will make more sense when you see it.

12th January 2004..
BBC 1, around 7pm, our very own Remi / Rough was featured in a program about customised trainers, graffiti art and street culture. For more information go to the BBC website, or contact Remi through our contact page.

1st January 2004..
As of this year, theChipFactory will be having a slight redesign. It it mostly behind the scenes, but some will be obvious. The original idea was to have a clean front page which does not detract from the work of the designers. There has been far too much text accumulating on the front page, now for some pictures..

There is a beanbag project which James Hamilton and Remi Morgan worked on together recently for P.O.S. which had good response at the last Margin tradeshow, some of the development work will be making it's way onto the pages soon. So far only a half scale model of the bag has been made. We are looking into very limited production, the first version will be limited to 22 artworked pieces made on a commission only basis. More information soon..

We now have some work from Ben Wilson, primarily the Chairfix project. More information will be added soon..

16th November 2003..
A simple interface update allows you to email us more easily..

Daisuke Sakaguchi is featured in Vol 2 Doc 5 of Undercover Magazine. Flip to page 52 to see a double spread of Daisuke's work, showing a progress of someone committing his art to skin in the form of a tattoo!

We have an updated collection of Jennie's label DVI... This is also the start of the new layout ready for the shop in the coming weeks, the images are just a sample of her latest work.

11th November 2003
I can confirm that Ben Wilson will be joining the site. Check back to see his 'Chairfix' exhibition with artworked pieces (one by our own Remi Morgan / Rough) and regular items to be available through this site.

Tim Daly has also supplied us with new work, have a look for yourself.. Prints up to A0 will soon be available to buy online along with some other interesting products.

5th November 2003..
BBC's Blast magazine is now in print, with an online version also available to download. See a small interview piece on me (James Hamilton).

20th September..

We have secured another member of theChipFactory. Sian Evans has already been designing jewellery for more than 15 years, and as of her latest collection (pending Mid October-ish) will be a part of this website. A select few pieces of her previous work will be shown as a taster of what to expect. Rough has also been added today.

25th August..

I already have a compatibility issue with Internet Explorer 5.5 and earlier on some machines. This will be rectified as soon as possible.

On a friday evening in a tucked away side street, somewhere near Liverpool St station, gathered some of the capitals more underground artists. Our own Shantell Martin, Daisuke Sakaguchi, and James Hamilton among others left their goods to the mercy of the group of eager punters. Check back soon for a fuller story...
