Welcome

14th July 2007
Welcome to theChipfactory

With the aim of getting a redesign up and running, I've put the site back up temporarily (work and details are from 2005) so that the artists can guage what to keep and what to replace, this is a temporary measure.. thanks for your patience.. James

The Sea Cow exhibition has been and moved on, since the first exhibition featuring a select few pieces from Remi/Rough, Tim & James(me), there has been further exhibits from other Chipfactory members. Ronzo having the last slot.

I'd like to thank people for the interest in Sian recently sparked by the Telegraph Ruby Wax piece, we've had a great response and had I not been so busy I would have uploaded this before.. check Sian's page for more info.

New website: www.roughe.com is ready, and should be uploaded later today. I've been working on this with Remi/Rough for quite some time now, we're pretty sure you'll like it.//

There are a few shows going on:

-Ben has just had an exhibition called 'Carpetfixation' at Milliken behind Vitra in Clerkenwell.

-Ron has just opened a solo show in Germany to launch a new Less Rain store and..

Ron Jonzo - crop from Berlin Less Rain Shop invitation

Thanks to all that have come to the show and supported us, including our sponsors, Tiger Beer, Red Bull and Lucky Strike. The opening was so successful that we have been granted an extra week. The show has been great, and there are some promising things that should come of it in the near future.. I will keep you posted.

Aside from the show, there have been a couple of interesting bits of press. We are featured in Volume 3 of PIMP Guides as a group, as well as a couple pages on Stormie, and Best (Home of Remi/Rough's current solo show, Unsettled Content).

Both Remi/Rough and Ron are featured in this month's Creative Review, Remi for his sick bags and Ron Jonzo for his 'Man With Pen' business cards and posters.  Nothing Rhymes With Orange

On a similar note, Remi/Rough is having his first solo show for a number of years, 'Unsettled Content' will be exibited in 'Best' 5 Back Hill, London, EC1R 5EN. Check out www.bestshopever.com for more info..

As a London based collective, we are fortunately all ok after the bombings in London. Liverpool St is close to where I live and it was a shock to say the least. Our thoughts are with the people and families of those affected..

Remi/Rough Bluefin Tuna ART extravaganza @ The Sea Cow, East Dulwich.

Remi/Rough had an exhibition of new artworks at The Sea Cow Restaurant in East Dulwich, and although that is now over, we all encourage you to make a trip down there and try the fantastic food.
Work displayed was a mixture of drawings and painting on paper, canvas and found objects. The Sea Cow is not only South London's most famous and applauded fish and chip emporium it is also a bastion for local artists.

Remi/Rough was the first graffiti artist to show his work there.

A frequent visitor to The Sea Cow, Remi/Rough recommends the Red Snapper or Bluefin Tuna.

Ron has been busy working on a few web projects with various companies around Shoreditch and his fantastic new site has been launched, check it out and expect to hear more about.. www.ronjonzo.com.

Yanina has been and gone, and given me new work for her page, and her artwork and hair braiding has kept her busy as well as her own all female collective Obaa. She is set to have an exhibition in London in the coming months.

I have been working freelance for Tommy Hilfiger and Gieves & Hawkes, among others, as well as working on a few websites yet to be released. You can see some more of my work on my updated page.

Ben, Daisuke, Tim, Sian and Shantell have no doubt been doing their thing also.. I am hoping to compile an update over the next week from as many of us as possible, and a revised back end of the site has been up and working for a couple of months now. The blog/news section is coming, but time is the biggest issue I have at the moment...
